LAC 2012 Posted by Conor on

Over the weekend I attended the Linux Audio Conference at Stanford, California. Sonnamble's Aphelion (I & II) was fortunate to be included in the listening roster at the CCRMA's listening room.
Needless to say the whole conference was inspiring. An event like this in such a location attracts a very interesting assortment of heads from musicians to engineers to inventors or more likely a mixture of all of the above. I would like to thank the organisers Fernando Lopez-Lezcano and Bruno Ruviaro, Frank Neumann, Robin Gareus and Julius O. Smith. Great work guys and very much looking forward to next year's LAC at IEM in Graz, Austria !

Sequence 3 Posted by Hannes on

Future Sequence have just released their third Sequence compilation and have included a Sonnamble piece along side numbers from MachineFabriek, Maps and diagrams, Field Rotation and many more. 'Vespers' by Sonnamble was recorded at the Forwindings night back in November at St. Leonards in Shoreditch, London. The Sonnamble lineup that night was Wei-ya Lin on Viola, Paul May on Drums, Peter Marsh on Dobro guitar and Conor Curran on electronics.

Forwind on RTE Lyric FM:Nova Posted by Shane on

Much appreciated radio play and kind words for Sonnamble and Elvers on one of our favourite radio shows Nova hosted as ever by Bernard Clarke.

Forwindings Posted by Conor on

Forwind would like to thank all those who contributed to a special evening at St. Leonards. A special thanks goes out to Robin for the beautiful venue, Celia Topping for her captivating photography and Paul Cowie and Mark Punt for filming the whole event. Charlie Beresford worked tirelessly to record the evening which we will make available shortly.

Blindlight video Posted by Conor on

Gavin Owens has shot, edited and produced a stunning visual piece for the title track from the new Sonnamble album. The piece consists of over 13,000 photos. Watch loud and full and preferably in a moment of calm.

Wire Tapper feat. Sonnamble Posted by Conor on

Very exciting piece of news this! Sonnamble are featured on The Wire Tapper 26 compilation. The track used is 'Aphelion I' taken from the upcoming Sonnamble album Blindlight, the duo's latest foray into the possibilities of electro-acoustic improvisation and real time processing.

Schism - Jones & Marsh Posted by Shane on

This is a podcast of 100% original material from Chris Jones and Peter Marsh. Instruments include electric guitar, noise, double bass and one instance of a virtual piano, mainly recorded live, some tinkered with afterwards. A piece of work that well deserves your full attention.

State51 Posted by Hannes on

Forwind is happily and relievedly at the end of the 'find-a-new-distributor' process! We have put pen to paper with State51 who ticked all the boxes for us when it came to the nitty gritty of getting our catalog the best online outlets and experimental music exposure possible. These things are obviously hugely important when you are trying to pop your head out from underneath the absolute deluge of new music that is released every week. And even more so when you are not exactly releasing music that is going to trouble the charts.... if they still exist! As a result of the above we can now finally announce release dates for our next three albums: James O'Sullivan's 'feed back couple', Elvers - 'Elvers' and Clang Sayne - 'Winterlands' will all be released on May16th and available to buy through boomkat , itunes, amazon etc. Will update soon with further details about the releases including availability of physical formats.

Elvers on BBC Radio 3 Posted by Shane on

Aptly named radio host Fiona Talkington, played our very own Elvers last night on BBC Radio 3's Late Junction with a track taken from their forthcoming debut on forwind. 'Cutthroat' is featured about an hour and fourteen minutes into the show but don't feel obliged to skip straight to - As ever there is some fabulous music from the outer reaches played right throughout the show. Happy listening friends.

aNOther Festival Posted by Conor on

We have received some very positive feedback from the showing of Gavin Owen's visual piece for Sonnamble's Sehsucht at 'aNOther Festival' in Vienna in November. Thanks so much Wei-Ya Lin for accepting the submission. Hopefully next year Sonnamble will come and play.

New Forwind Logo Posted by Conor on

Trying to conjure a brief for a new logo design for Forwind was for us a daunting task. Up until now design for either of the two releases or the site has been the good work of Paul Finn. We definitely wanted to keep this style but just add a touch of graphic finesse to the overall look through the logo. I think the overall brief for Hannes amounted to "we would like to represent the idea of winding, to stress that the pronunciation is forw/y/nd not forw/i/nd." Not much direction given there really, doesn't elaborate much on what it should be instead focuses on something else entirely. It suits the subtle clean design previously laid down by Paul while also marking out its own take on what Forwind is about. Great work Hannes.

James O'Sullivan at Cafe Oto Posted by Conor on

Excellent footage of a recent show at London's Cafe Oto of guitarist James O' Sullivan. 'feed back couple', James's first solo release is due out on Forwind early 2011.
